I learned to code just to stop the pain. 💌
Not a Doctor. Not a Corporation. Just a Girl Who Refused to "Just Deal With It."
Hi, I'm Yanlin.
If you look at my resume from a year ago, you won't find "Full-Stack Developer" or "Medical Researcher." You'll find a Liberal Arts major who loved literature and hated math.
So, why did I spend the last 6 months locking myself in a room, learning Next.js, wrestling with database codes, and reading 2,000+ pages of ACOG (American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists) guidelines?
Because I was in pain.
For 10 years, debilitating cramps ruled my life. Every month, I faced the same routine: curling up in bed, popping painkillers that hurt my stomach, and hearing doctors say, "It's normal. Just drink some warm water."
I realized that for the medical industry, I was just a statistic. But for me, it was my life.
I decided if no one was going to build the tool I needed—a tool that respects my pain, protects my privacy, and actually works—I would build it myself.
The Truth I Found (What the Industry Won't Tell You)
During my "revenge research," I didn't just learn to code. I analyzed massive datasets on women's health. What I found was shocking, and it became the foundation of PeriodHub:
1. The "U-Curve" of Pain
Data shows that period pain isn't linear. It peaks in our late teens, dips in our 30s, and then spikes again during perimenopause (40+).
My Realization: Most apps treat us the same at every age. But a 18-year-old needs quick relief, while a 40-year-old needs hormonal balance. PeriodHub differentiates this.
2. The "Natural" Shift
Did you know that 73% of women over 35 prefer natural remedies over medication? Yet, most doctors only prescribe NSAIDs.
My Realization: We don't need to choose. The science (ACOG & WHO) actually supports a "Combined Protocol": Medication for the acute spike + Heat/Magnesium for maintenance. This "1+1>2" approach is the core of our philosophy.
3. The Anxiety Comorbidity
Over 52% of women with cramps also suffer from anxiety. Pain is physical, but suffering is emotional.
My Realization: A period tracker shouldn't just log bleeding; it must soothe the mind. That's why I built the "Panic Relief" features.
Why PeriodHub is Different
I built this platform with the logic of a developer but the heart of a Liberal Arts student.
🛡️ Privacy First
I know how creepy it is when ads for baby products follow you after you track a missed period. That's why PeriodHub uses Local-First Storage. Your cycle data lives on your device, not in a cloud I can sell.
📚 Evidence-Based
Every feature here is verified against ACOG and WHO guidelines. No pseudoscience, no "magic crystals"—just biology.
❤️ Empathy
This isn't a VC-backed unicorn trying to capture "market share." It's a tool built by a patient, for patients.
A Promise from Me to You
I may have become a coder, but I'm still that girl with the heating pad.
PeriodHub is my love letter to every woman who has ever cried in a bathroom stall.
I hope this tool gives you back the control I fought so hard to find.
